Autocomplete (also known as typeahead or autosuggest) is a language prediction tool that many search interfaces use to provide suggestions for users as they type in a query. In general, autocomplete menus drop down below the search bar as users type and change with each keystroke to provide increasingly accurate predictions. Autocomplete menus can be formatted in a wide range of styles, from basic menus listing only query suggestions to more advanced menus which break into multiple sections and provide brand, product, author, category, or other suggestions.
Swiftype provides a fast default style autocomplete menu for search engines out-of-the-box, but also provides site owners the tools to integrate Swiftype's autocomplete into their existing website aesthetic via a jQuery library and customization tutorial.
